Four Star Sales

Since 2002 our auction sales have been conducted under the banner of Four Star Sales. Partners Johnny Jones, David Greathouse and Kerry Cauthen bring a formidable team approach to our representation of clients' mares, foals and yearlings.

Dan Kenny Bloodstock remains the vehicle for our purchases of mares and foals, yearlings and racing age horses.

Dan Kenny Bloodstock continues to hit international paydirt when it comes to making timely purchases of broodmares. Two recent examples are Cherry Moon and Storm Celine.

Stakes-winner Cherry Moon (Quiet American) was purchased privately for my own account in California after the conclusion of her racing career. She was offered at the 1999 Keeneland November sale and was sold to French agent Eric Puerari who was acting on behalf of the late Jean-Luc Lagardere. Had you checked our website in the Fall of 1999 you would have found Cherry Moon under our current Horse Sale offerings.

Bred to Linamix, Cherry Moon produced Cherry Mix, a 3-year-old Group II winner who finished second in the Arc d'Triomphe for trainer André Fabre.

Dan Kenny Bloodstock purchased Storm Celine (Storm Cat) in July 2000 at Barretts from the estate of Marshall Naify. She was in foal to Bertrando and was bought for $85,000 on behalf of Canadian owner Eugene Melnyk.

Storm Celine foaled a Bertrando filly who is now the unbeaten 3yo stakes-winner Black Rock Road, winner of the $165,600 Carotene Stakes at Woodbine.

Another Canadian client got a real bargain when James Redekop of Vancouver paid only $7,000 for a mare we purchased at Keeneland named Precious Brenda in foal to Minardi. She is now the dam of Grade 3 winner Austin's Mom (Affectionately Handicap). Her Minardi yearling brought $50,000 at the September Keeneland Sale. She is now in foal to Victory Gallop.

Nat's My Gal was bought for $5,000 at an OBS sale in Florida for our own account. She later produced Grade 2 stakes-winner Gold For My Gal and was sold for a healthy profit to John Franks.

Bridey O. was purchased for our own account at Fasig-Tipton February in foal to Scatmandu for $9,500. She foaled a filly named Domestic Dispersal who was sold to Bob Baffert for a six-figure sum. The mare currently has a yearling colt by Archers Bay and a weanling filly by Doneraile Court.

We bought three mares for Jack Chamblin for a combined $45,000 and each has gone on to better things. Diane's Girl (Relaunch) brought $11,000 and is now a stakes producer. Stakes-winner Teasing Charm (Sky Classic, $19,000) foaled a multiple winner by Diesis. Stakes-winner Uptown Show (Show Dancer, $15,000) was bought in foal to American Chance and produced a filly which won a MSW at two this year.

We manage to find great value in the market place year after year by applying common sense principles of risk management. Your inquiries are invited.

We also have been a source of value when it comes to selling mares. We sold the dam of Tout Charmant (Gr. I) and Forest Grove, both out of Grade 3 winner Charm A Gendarme, who also produced a $4 million yearling.

Dan Kenny Bloodstock also sold current Grade I winners Lady Tak (and her dam) and Whipper (France).

Private Sales

We have purchased and sold a large number of major horses through the private market. Contacts throughout the racing world enable us to move quickly when the right horse becomes available. Call us if we can be of any assistance.
