INTRODUCTION FROM DAN KENNY

Photo of Dan KennyIt was 1972 when I jumped the tracks from the journalism side to the rough-and-tumble bloodstock arena of the Thoroughbred world.

Luck was on my side. A $2,000 purchase named Sutter's Dream became a champion. Others named Smiley's Dream, Five Star General, Berta's Dandy quickly followed suit and I knew my fate was wedded to the horse business.

At that time, I sought the counsel of my father, a man wise in the ways of business and finance, about how best to proceed. His advice was succinct. "Be in it for the long haul," he said. "Treat your clients right and chances are they will stay with you as long as you are getting the job done."

Pop was right. The years have been good to me and to you who read these words, my esteemed clients who have enabled my business to prosper. Along the way, many fine friendships have formed through the shared appreciation of a quality horse.

And what horses we have enjoyed! Broodmare of the Year In Neon, dam of Grade I winners Sharp Cat and Royal Anthem. Track record holders like Sunny Blossom and Slyly Gifted; champions like Delta Colleen, Above the Stars, Shezashiningstar, Lady's Excuse; Derby winners Fortinbras, Squire Jones; brilliant mares Barkerville Belle, Never Wood, Aunt Stel, Lil Ol Gal, Frieda Frame, Ask for Speed, Lazy Slusan and so many others. These stalwarts earned millions of dollars and provided thrilling moments that money cannot buy!

Thanks to each and every one of you for providing the means for me to come along for the ride. May it long continue! And welcome to all the Thoroughbred aficionados on the Internet. Tell us how we can help you succeed.
